毎年の夏、とらや 京都一条店の「宇治みぞれ」かき氷が大好きです。上品な甘さの白餡と白玉の組み合わせがとても良いです。また、お庭がお好きな方には、京都の一条店をおすすめします。帝国ホテル 東京地下の喫茶店も好きです。落ち着いた大人の雰囲気があり、学生時代から50回以上通っています。
Every year from May to mark the start of summer, I enjoy shaved ice from Toraya. My favorite is 「宇治みぞれ」a combination of white azuki bean paste with a refined sweetness with a matcha syrup made from Wasanbon sugar.
I always ask for 2-3 白玉 (white glutinous mochi ball) and a side of chilled matcha or sencha. It is perfectly refreshing and satisfying, and I love the mountain shape.
So there are a few Toraya stores around Japan that have this summer edition shaved ice. I recommend the Akasaka main 赤坂店store for broad views of lush green and cityscape. For a traditional Japanese garden and heartfelt service, the Kyoto store 京都一条店 is best.
However, my secret go-to-place with no waiting lines is the basement store under the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The interior is dark, contemporary and very relaxing. I’m actually not going to include the address here because I think you should try find it yourself.
